Our neck of the woods has activities for every season. Our lakes and streams make this one of the best fly fishing places in California. Spring and summer temperatures are perfect for boating, canoeing, kayaking, camping, and golf. Not a fan of lake water? Burney also has a community swimming pool. The town of Burney has Burney Basin Days on the 4th of July weekend that involves fun for the whole family. The town puts on a parade with local businesses designing floats, collectors of classic cars showing off their shiny chrome, team bed races, various barbeques and picnics, flea market, baseball tournaments and a fireworks celebration. Fall brings fantastic foliage color changes perfect for peaceful hikes and picnics. For avid hikers the Pacific Crest Trail is nearby and the McArthur-Burney Falls State Park has beautiful trails to hike around the waterfalls. Also in the fall the Intermountain Fair is nearby in McArthur, CA. There local 4-H members show their livestock skills, local artists display art and crafts from sewing and quilting to gardening, canning and vegetable growing. There are amusement rides for the kids, the Jr. Rodeo, bull riding and a destruction derby for the thrill seekers and a live concert. Winter activities include skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. Think you might get cabin fever? Redding, CA, located just 50 miles west of Burney has shopping malls, concerts and musical theatre.
